Nothing about us without us: Involving young people and their carers

Target Audience: 

This is a four hour training course to introduce the concept of service user involvement and participation, specifically around parent carers and young people. The course is for service providers, both management and front-line, from health, social care and any other statutory or voluntary sector organisations providing service to children, young people and families. 

This course is primarily for those professionals (statutory and voluntary) who either work predominately or who have regular contact with children and young people; for those who hold particular responsibilities for safeguarding and for those who hold positions as professional advisors. (i.e. Groups 2,3 and 4) 

Aim:
  • To introduce the concept of participation in terms of its importance, benefits, and challenges
  • To develop a participation action plan for participants to take forward 
Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training session participants will be confident in: 

  • Their understanding of what participation is, including the spectrum and ethics of participation
  • Developing an action plan on how to improve participation in their organisation
